The MSc is committed to excellence in European wide software education and training of engineers to deliver high quality and trustworthy software systems that meet the European industrial needs. The programme in Software Engineering is the first in Europe that conforms to the Bologna declaration which has the UK as one of its signatories.

The MSc will be hard work, rewarding and exciting. Past graduates from our MSc programmes are already changing the world in which we live, and after completing your studies we hope that you will join them in changing our futures too. The School of Computing has particular strengths and interests (professional, scholarly and academic) in Software Engineering. The programme will be taught by a core group of Software Engineering subject staff.

Graduates from the course will be equipped to integrate formal and conventional methods in the specification, implementation and testing of dependable, distributed and scalable software systems.

Upon succesful completion candidates may progress to do a PhD as part of our Integrated Programme.

An excellent feature in this MSc is that it has the option of an Industrial Placement. You can take an addition of up-to ONE year in industry to gain industrial experience. This could be before or after you embark on your summer project.
