Greeting by Hongji Yang
The founding of the Software Evolution and Reengineering Group (SERG) might not be quite a dream come true but was showing that people in the Group were determined to study a few issues in the field of software evolution and reengineering.
The main challenges that SERG has tackled and will continue to tackle are to understand the ever complex software systems and suggest better methods for these systems to evolve and survive to provide the intended services at a lower cost.
As many other technologies, software technology takes time for all its techniques to mature. The study into software evolution and reengineering is the same. Nevertheless, it is now becoming significantly important that software evolution and reengineering can help with software industry.
SERG pays attention to the developments by scholars all over the world. We enjoy collaborating with colleagues to push forward the research in this field. Since its foundation, SERG has discussed a number of problems. Though we are not a big research group, we believe in developing ourselves and contributing to software technology.
Aims
Our aim is to develop an
integrated and practical approach that handles the constant change in system
requirements. Such an approach should permit a rapid re-engineering in response
to changes, must be compositional and ensures consistency between the various
stages in system evolution.
Group History
The group is established in 1993.
Facilities
Sufficient office
space and necessary computing equipments.
