Jason-1 is the successor to TOPEX/Poseidon, launched on 7th December, 2001. It contains a C and Ku-band nadir-pointing radar altimeter for measurements over ocean.

It has a 10 day repeat cycle and covers latitudes between 66°N and 66°S
