Envisat is the successor to ERS-2 and launched on 1st March 2002. It contains a S and Ku-band nadir-pointing radar altimeter optimised for measurements over all surfaces.
The satellite shares the same orbit track as ERS-2, covers 82°N to 82°S and has a repeat cycle of 35 days.
