Travel Information

Leicester is at the heart of the UK and is served by excellent road, rail and air links.

Airports

East Midlands International Airport is less than half an hour away and Birmingham, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted airports are all within easy reach.

Train

Leicester is just 69 minutes direct from London by train. There are also direct rail links to Birmingham, Luton and Stansted Airport. Leicester is on a direct line into St Pancras International, the home of Eurostar. North-South train services through Leicester are run by East Midlands Trains, who also manage Leicester Station; East-West services are run by Cross-Country Trains.

Please be aware of ticket barriers at the end of your train journey that will not return your ticket. You may want to ask for a receipt when you buy your ticket.

Coach/bus

Leicester is served by a wide range of coach services, mostly operated by National Express. Although slower than rail travel, journeys by coach are usually considerably cheaper and often have a smaller carbon footprint. A coach from Leicester to London takes about three hours.

By car

Leicester is just off the M1 and close to the main A1, allowing easy access to the North and South. The M69 and M6 are also close by and offer access to Birmingham, Wales and the South West.
