Martin Stacey
Senior Lecturer
Faculty of Technology,
De Montfort University
My teaching and research focus on human computer interaction, web design, artificial intelligence, and design processes.
I originally studied Psychology at Oxford (where I was a contemporary of Fox Mulder) and Carnegie Mellon, before doing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at Aberdeen, and research at the MRC Applied Psychology Unit in Cambridge and at the Open University. I transferred to DMU Leicester in 2002 after six years in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at DMU Milton Keynes.
My main research interests are in various aspects of design processes: understanding how they work, at different scales and seen according to different theoretical perspectives; and how computer systems can support designers in being more effective and creative.
My main teaching activities are in human computer interaction. In the past I've taught courses in programming, web development, systems analysis and design, and artificial intelligence.
